The DBT Center of Los Angeles offers a comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) outpatient program that provides treatment for psychiatric disorders, including Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and eating disorders.
At our outpatient DBT program for women and men, you will regularly meet with a trained DBT therapist for individual sessions, and participate in DBT skills groups and phone coaching. Your DBT therapist will help you learn healthy coping skills and will guide you through homework assignments that help strengthen your DBT skills.
Services at our DBT Outpatient Treatment Program
Outpatient treatment at the DBT Los Angeles is individualized based on your specific needs. Upon admission to our DBT outpatient program, you will receive a bio-psycho-social assessment, psychiatric assessment, nutrition assessment, and psychological testing (as needed) to help us better understand your treatment needs.
In addition to DBT therapy, other services offered at the DBT Center of Los Angeles include case management, family and couples therapy, psychiatric evaluation, and medication management.

DBT Therapy Los Angeles
Treatment at the DBT Center of Los Angeles focuses on the development of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills. These skills are taught in DBT groups and focus on improving behavioral, emotional, and cognitive instability. DBT groups focus on the development of the following four skills:
- Distress tolerance
- Emotion regulation
- Interpersonal effectiveness
At the DBT Center of Los Angeles’ outpatient treatment program, you will participate in one of two DBT skills groups per week, where you will learn and practice the four DBT skills. Our outpatient Dialectical Behavior Therapy treatment program offers an evening DBT group and a daytime DBT group to accommodate individual scheduling needs.
When appropriate, our outpatient program also offers the following groups in addition to DBT:
- Mood disorders
- Trauma group, for those who have been stabilized
- Eating disorders
- Relationship skills
- Family of origin
- Yoga and meditation
- Relapse prevention, for people with addictions
- Life coaching
- Process groups
